Today I discovered donuts in Taipa! And in many of the bakery shops! Genuine donuts! The bakery shops are quite good actually. Having obtained permission from the chief baker, I took several photographs in the shop (I don't think he minded at all, but if he had, the sight of the half dozen goodies, still unpurchased, on my tray may have helped with that decision)! The donuts are indeed good.
Yesterday, I visited a festival that was being held in Taipa. Many countries from far and wide, including Brazil and Senegal for example, were displaying foods, cultural items, and handiwork for purchase. Live music was blasting - literally, blasting - from a nearby stage. Several Portuguese houses and a church located in the area were maintained by the government in the area with period furniture and decorations.
The drying has begun! The sales are continuing! The famous Macanese dried meats are sold in some of the local sweet shops. The prices for the dried jerky isn't cheap, either! The meats are seasoned and dried and later sold in thin, rectangular pieces. I snapped the shot below real quick while walking by.
