December's here!

Finally, Downtown Macao! I have now visited basically every section of Macao, Taipa, Cotai, and Coloane! More pictures are forthcoming, but it takes a while to pick out several of the representative ones. Right now, I have about six gigabytes of pictures that I haven't "represented" at all on the site as of yet! Remember to keep looking around... at least one item is updated on the site every day!

Christmas Tree in the Venetian

Well, as I'm sure you'll see on the main page, I haven't updated this site in about three weeks! That's not entirely true, since I've made some minor modifications to enhance the "usability" of the site. Of note is the news located on the right hand side, as well as live Macao time, weather forecast, and a "church" section on the "Macau" page. And now Christmas is just around the corner. Christmas! I can hardly wait even though there is no snow here in the more tropical regions of the world. Still, Christmas is actually widely celebrated in this area as well, with feasts, parades, music, parties, and other festivities. Christmas trees - imitation, of course - can be found at the ferry terminal, airport, resorts, and hotels around Macao. Even so, Christmas is widely known as a Western holiday celebrated by giving gifts, and perhaps the true meaning of Christmas isn't as well known.

Coloane
Before I begin, it's phonetically pronounced "call - oh - on" Well, I was by the ocean last weekend, and it wasn't snowing! It wasn't cold! It wasn't icy! In fact, it was a pleasant 70 degrees F. Strolling along the waterfront, I stopped by some of the dried fish stores and even paused to converse with a man from Hong Kong and photograph his white Cockatoo! The bird wasn't very polite, and went ahead cleaning itself, not taking any notice of the strange tourist from the States. Coloane was quite enjoyable, the relaxing atmosphere and slower-moving environment was pleasant when contrasted with working life in Taipa or Macao.
